I AM // The Dirty Beggars (live)

For the first time we present a completely acoustic group on stage on a Tuesday night and these five are on fire if you don't mind us saying so and they're completely un-electronic; so what? Dirty Beggars are a bluegrass band from Scotland who have been adopted by locals as one of their own, with MTV picking up on their sound just as the dust was settling on the back of their American tour.

Optimo Presents...Horse Meat Disco

Hot on the heels of their last appearance we are practically giddy (up!) to be welcoming back Horse Meat Disco to Optimo on Sunday 26th February. Inspired by the halcyon days of New York nightlife including Mancuso’s Loft, Nicky Siano’s Gallery and late lamented DJ Adam Goldstone, Horse Meat Disco was started in 2003 by DJs James Hillard (ex-Nuphonic) and Jim Stanton, long-time lynchpin of Jockey Slut magazine. From early parties in London’s Chinatown, Horse Meat took up their famed weekly residency in Eagle London in Vauxhall and, joined by DJs Filthy Luka (Luke Howard, ex- Queer Nation) and Severino (CODEX), quickly built a reputation for fantastic parties and high quality disco sets. The club has gone from strength to strength and they now pack in a hectic global touring schedule, remixing, production, whilst still running the weekly club in Vauxhall every Sunday (we played there last year and it was one of our favourite gigs of the year - highly recommended if you are in London!). Their last appearance at Optimo went down a storm, don't miss them!

I AM // Sinjin Hawke

Sinjin Hawke is a individual with an ear for binding emotions within hip-hop and R&B. With an extensive output through the waves of his Soundcloud he’s a producer that is versatile to say the least, drawing his inspiration from a range of mixed sounds from mainly R&B, rap and hip-hop to the further likes of trap, garage, dancehall and juke. While eclecticism and quality don’t always go hand in hand, Hawke consistently proves that he can progressively create tracks that marry all categories of sound into a union of richly enjoyable music. To add to his list of achievements, he was also responsible for curating the much revered Boomclap parties in Montreal, alongside Markus of LOL Boys and Azamat B, with whom he also works under the moniker ITFW, responsible for the treasured Ciara edit of “Surgeon” that was featured on our first Truancy compilation.

As well as being a producer of ill repute and a master selector, Hebden runs Text Records which has released collaborations between himself and Burial as well as producing one of our favourite records of 2011, the Pinnacles / Ye Ye twelve with Daphni.
